Zambia edges Sierra Leone in thrilling AFCON qualifier

In a thrilling African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier match held on Tuesday, Zambia successfully secured a 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone.

Kennedy Musonda, Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, and Kings Kangwa skillfully contributed goals for Zambia, while Augustus Kargbo and Hindolo Mustapha admirably scored for Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone's path to Morocco, the host country of AFCON 2025, has become increasingly challenging after a 1-1 draw with Chad and a narrow 3-2 loss to Zambia.

Hindolo Mustapha, a promising newcomer from Crystal Palace, marked his debut for Sierra Leone by scoring his first goal in this match.

The Leone Stars, as Sierra Leone's national football team is affectionately known, will face a formidable challenge in November 2024 when they encounter African champions Ivory Coast in a double-header fixture.
