Youth remanded Following Allegations of Embezzlement

Abdul Razark Mansaray was remanded into custody after facing serious accusations of embezzlement.

The accused, Mansaray, who is unemployed, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Freetown's Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 on Monday, November 11, 2024.

The 38-year-old was charged with embezzlement after the police alleged that on Friday, September 22, 2024, at Babadorie Junction, Lumley, Western Area in Freetown, he fraudulently embezzled the sum of seventy-seven thousand four hundred and twenty-six Leone (77,426), which he had received from James Fornah and Momoh Kamara of Abjatal Star Enterprise.

However, the accused could not enter a plea after the charges were read and explained to him in court.

Following the reading and explanation of the charges in open court, the Prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, requested an adjournment as his witness was absent.

Counsel representing the accused person, E.T Lassayo, attempted to secure the conditional release of the accused but was unsuccessful. He emphasized that the accused is a Sierra Leonean citizen and has reliable sureties.

Despite these assurances, Magistrate Bangura remanded the accused in custody and adjourned the matter to November 13, 2024, for further proceedings.
