The United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan Hunt has met with the leadership of the All People’s Congress party, at their headquarters, to discuss the importance of constructive dialoguing for progress on democratic reform and stability.
According to a released embassy tweet, this visit was done for the benefit of the Sierra Leonean people.
According to a statement released by the media team of the Presidential candidate of the APC party, Dr. Samura Kamara, this visit demonstrates a
crucial recognition of the opposition and their reception signals a willingness to engage in a meaningful dialogue.
They continued that for Dr. Samura Kamara, it signifies the importance of having a diplomatic, measured approach to dialogue —an approach that can make allies out of even the most stringent critics.
The mediation between government and the APC, regarding their non-acceptance of the results of June 24th election and the resulting decision of abstinence in all governance issue will be held on the 16th -18th October, to be facilitated by the ECOWAS, African Union and Commonwealth, after separate sessions held between the parties, commencing on the 13th& 14th October.
