Updated: 5 days ago

Lamin Bangura and Amidu Kamara have been remanded on charges of sacrilege. They appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing a count charge of sacrilege. The alleged incident occurred on Friday, August 16th, 2024, at the Glory of God Prayer Ministry Church at No. 9 Lumley Road, Freetown.

The accused individuals are reported to have stolen various items, including a computer monitor, a ceiling pan, a pot, a flash, a roll of Ashobi clothes, and an Aluminum Offering Box, with a total value of twelve thousand and eighty Leones (Le12,080) belonging to the church.

During the trial, the second prosecution witness, Isaac Sam King, identified the accused persons as cleaners of the Glory of God Prayer Ministry, located at Wilberforce in Freetown. He testified that upon being informed about the alleged crime by a church member, he promptly visited the church and found the accused individuals in custody.

Subsequently, he reported the incident to the general overseer of the church and handed over the accused persons to the Lumley Police Station.

While the first accused, who was unrepresented by legal counsel, cross-examined the witness and confirmed not witnessing the stolen items in the possession of the accused, the second accused, also unrepresented, did not pose any questions to the witness.

Following the cross-examination, Magistrate Kekura remanded both accused persons and adjourned the matter to September 30th, 2024.
