Sierra Leone's Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James Teima, visited the Leone Stars training camp in Makeni on Saturday, September 2, 2023, ahead of the team's final group stage match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Guinea Bissau on September 11.
Madam James Teima, who is the first woman to hold the position of Minister of Sports in Sierra Leone, encouraged the players to dedicate themselves to their training and do their utmost to win the match.
"I am here to show my support to the team," she said. "I know that you have been working hard, and I believe in you. I urge you to give it your all in the match against Guinea Bissau."
The Leone Stars are currently in third place in Group A, five points behind Guinea Bissau. The top two teams in the group will qualify for the AFCON tournament.
The Leone Stars have been training in Makeni for the past few weeks. They have played several practice matches against local teams.
The Minister of Sports' visit was a boost for the Leone Stars ahead of the crucial match against Guinea Bissau. The team is determined to win the match and make the Minister and the nation proud.
