The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has donated 10,820 footballs to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) yesterday, July 4, 2023. The donation is part of FIFA's Football for Schools project (F4S), which aims to make football more accessible to both boys and girls around the world by incorporating it into the education system.
The SLFA, as a member association of the Football governing Body FIFA, reached out to the MBSSE to discuss how best to implement the F4S project and they decided that it will start off with the distribution of the balls to pre-primary, and junior secondary schools across Sierra Leone.
In his brief remarks, the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Dr. David Monina Sengeh, lauded FIFA and SLFA for their timely, proactive action in developing football in Sierra Leone, as the donation of the footballs will help to promote physical activity and teamwork among children and youth.
He continued that these activities can greatly impact on the cognitive and psychosocial development of the children and teens, ultimately improving on their educational life.
The F4S project is a valuable initiative that has the potential to make a positive impact on the lives of children and youth in Sierra Leone.
