Sierra Leonean featherweight boxer Josephine Angel Betist has secured the prestigious AFBC Solidarity and Fraternity Boxing Gala title in Tunisia.

In a challenging match, Betist defeated the host nation's champion, Amal Mathloifi. This victory marks a significant achievement for Betist, who had faced setbacks in recent international competitions, including the All African Games and the Olympic qualifiers.  Her perseverance has resulted in a continental title for Sierra Leone.

Following her victory, Betist expressed her joy and dedicated the win to her country. This accomplishment is a testament to the unwavering support provided by the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Authority, and the National Olympic Committee, who have consistently backed the Sierra Leone Boxing Association in their national and international endeavors.

With this victory, Betist joins fellow athlete Sara H Joe in bringing continental glory to Sierra Leone.

She expressed gratitude to the Secretary General Alhaji Komba and the President Solomon Kargbo of the Sierra Leone Boxing Association for their immense support.
