The Sierra Leone Basketball Federation (SLBF) has achieved a notable milestone by securing scholarships for two promising young players, Paul Foday Marah and Augustine Moses Kpaka.
The duo recently returned from the prestigious FIBA Africa Basketball Camp held in Douala, Cameroon, from October 14 to 17, 2024.
These scholarships are a direct result of President Ali Hijazi's commitment to youth development and international exposure, as outlined in his manifesto and strategic plan for his first year in office.
Under his leadership, the SLBF has revitalized the sport, organizing the inaugural National Basketball Competition in Kenema in 2023, which attracted large crowds and intense competition.
Furthermore, the federation's efforts to foster international relations have gained momentum.
Forcians, one of Sierra Leone's oldest basketball clubs, recently participated in friendly matches against top Liberian teams, strengthening ties between the two nations' basketball federations.
As the SLBF continues to make significant strides, it aims to elevate Sierra Leone's basketball scene both domestically and globally.
