Sierra Leone U-20 Team Gears Up for Friendly Against Ghana in AFCON Preparations

After a 2-0 loss to Morocco in a pre-AFCON preparatory match, the Sierra Leone U-20 national team is now focusing on an important friendly match against Ghana, set for Tuesday, March 25th. Goals by I. Laoued and A. Kharroubi secured Morocco's victory.

Nonetheless, the Shooting Stars are dedicated to learning from this experience. This series of friendlies in Morocco is essential for Sierra Leone's preparation for the upcoming U-20 AFCON tournament in Côte d'Ivoire.

The primary goal is to assess the performance of both domestic and international players to form a cohesive and competitive team. Despite the setback against Morocco, the team remains optimistic, with the match against Ghana providing another crucial opportunity to refine strategies and enhance match fitness.

The coaching staff is particularly focused on finalizing team composition and tactical strategies ahead of the continental competition. The Shooting Stars recently completed their second training session, attended by Harold Nat-Jonson, the First Vice President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

His presence significantly boosted morale, underscoring the SLFA's unwavering support. On behalf of the SLFA President, Thomas Daddy Brima, Vice President Nat-Jonson expressed gratitude to the players and coaching staff, particularly acknowledging the commitment of international players who answered the call to represent their nation.

He highlighted the crucial role their participation plays in strengthening the squad for the upcoming AFCON tournament. Enhancing the team's positive atmosphere, Alusine "Hercules" Dumbuya has joined the squad in Morocco after resolving visa issues that initially hindered his travel. His presence in training further enhances the team's readiness and morale.

The upcoming match against Ghana is now the primary focus, offering a vital test for the Shooting Stars. This match will provide a clearer assessment of the team's progress and enable the coaching staff to make informed decisions regarding the final squad selection.

With the U-20 AFCON tournament approaching, Sierra Leone is determined to use this friendly to build momentum and solidify their preparations for the challenges ahead.
