Sierra Leone Female Cricket team departs for Botswana to compete in the ICC Women's T20 Qualifiers

The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) today 29th August 2023 visited and bade farewell to the Deputy Minister of Sports Kai Lawrence Mbayo at his Bishop House office.


The team is departing for the ICC Women's T20 qualifiers in Botswana.



In his brief remarks, Chairman of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association, Francis Trevor Samura thanked the Ministry of Sports for its encouragement and support, especially for making available training facilities and equipment, immensely helping them to prepare for the tournament.


Deputy Minister Mbayo encouraged the players to proudly represent Sierra Leone and to make the country proud, bestowing the Sports ministry's support in their quest for success.


The ICC Women's T20 qualifier is scheduled to take place from September 1 to 11, 2023, in Gaborone, Botswana.


The tournament will feature teams from 10 African countries.


The Sierra Leone Female Cricket Patriots are one of the favorites to win the tournament.


They will be looking to make history by becoming the first Sierra Leonean team to win an international cricket tournament.


The team also had a brief photoop with the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James.
