School Teacher Remanded for Impersonating Police OSD

Gbassay Bangura, also known as Angelo, a school teacher, has been remanded in custody for impersonating a police officer.

On Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 'Makolloh' Village, Koyah Chiefdom, Port Loko District, in the Northern Province, the accused, Bangura, was discovered wearing a full Operation Support Division (OSD) camouflage uniform and simultaneously assumed the role of the Sierra Leone Police without lawful authority.

On the same date and location, the accused individual was found in possession of a pair of Operation Support Division (OSD) camouflage uniforms, suspected to be unlawfully obtained property of the Sierra Leone Police.

Consequently, teacher Bangura was arraigned before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown, facing two counts of impersonation and unlawful possession.

However, teacher Bangura, who was not represented by a lawyer in court, pleaded not guilty to the allegations against him.

The Prosecutor, Sergeant Florence M. Wilson, requested an adjournment due to the absence of her witnesses.

In the interim, Magistrate Bangura remanded the accused and adjourned the matter to September 12, 2024, for further hearing.
