In a significant reorganization of his administration, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has dismissed three prominent officials from their roles. This decision impacts the Minister of Youth Affairs, Mohamed Orman Bangura, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Moriba Koroma, and the Managing Director of the Sierra Leone National Shipping Company. This action follows public outcry involving two of these officials.

Mohamed Orman Bangura, as the Minister of Youth Affairs, was tasked with implementing policies to empower the youth of Sierra Leone. His tenure, noted for its amiable relations with youth and youth-led organizations, came under intense scrutiny following allegations that a youth envoy, appointed during his tenure, was implicated in a money-for-travel scheme, purportedly with the Minister's awareness.
There were allegations that, while the minister might not have been directly involved, he allegedly ignored the situation, which ultimately facilitated the misconduct.
Mr. Moriba Koroma served as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, a role focused on ensuring the safety and security of citizens. He was implicated in a controversial video showing youths engaging in violence outside the Sierra Leone People's Party headquarters. These youths were reportedly supporters of the party's chairman, who also served as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
Mr. Ahmed Saybom Kanu, as the Managing Director of the Sierra Leone National Shipping Company, was responsible for overseeing maritime operations affecting trade and commerce. The reasons for his dismissal remain unclear.
Some commentators are questioning the conduct of these individuals, which appeared to neglect their official duties and responsibilities, as well as the government's response, which came only after public outcry.
