Political Tensions Rise as APC Condemns President's Speech in Sierra Leone

The All People's Congress (APC) has expressed profound concern and disappointment in response to President Julius Maada Bio's recent speech in Sierra Leone, wherein he issued a contentious warning to citizens, stating that those who come with bullets will be met with bullets.

In a press release signed by their National Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya Esq., the APC criticized President Bio for employing divisive language instead of fostering unity and providing encouragement to the nation. The party asserts that such inflammatory rhetoric only serves to further fracture the social cohesion of Sierra Leone.

During a period marked by reports of hunger, economic hardships, and widespread devastation in Sierra Leone, the APC finds the President's threatening rhetoric to be disquieting. The party emphasizes that, despite the challenges, the power of the ballot should prevail over violent means.

The APC references the Agreement for National Unity, which denounces hate speech and violence, to remind the public of the commitment made by both the ruling SLPP government and the opposition APC to condemn any actions that incite violence or disrupt national harmony.

The APC condemns President Bio's actions and words, describing them as misguided and regrettable. The APC party also calls on leaders from both sides to prioritize national unity and peace-building efforts during this critical period.

Furthermore, the party urged the government to cease unjust actions and focus on promoting genuine dialogue and reconciliation in line with the Bintumani Agreement to ensure political stability and peace.
