Police Tenders Exhibit In Gloucester Village Murder Case 


The police have formally presented an exhibit against Ibrahim Samura, a tiler, and motorbike rider, who stands before the court for the alleged murder of Alfred Jusu.


Samura is currently before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing a single count charge of murder.



According to the police report, on Saturday, May 25, 2024, in Gloucester Village, Mountain Rural District, Western Area in Freetown, the defendant allegedly murdered Alfred Jusu.


Testifying under oath, the third prosecution witness, Forneh Kargbo, affiliated with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Hill Top Police Station, recalled that on May 25, 2025, while on duty, he received information about the alleged murder from the Village Headman at Gloucester, Fredrick Hanciles.



Kargbo and his colleagues proceeded to the crime scene, where they discovered the lifeless body of Jusu with multiple wounds. Kargbo disclosed that he used his mobile phone to capture images of the deceased and formally presented these photographs as evidence in court.


The remains of Jusu were transported to the Connaught Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination. Subsequently, Timothy Saio, who identified himself as the uncle of the deceased, reported to the station.


On May 27, 2024, the accused was apprehended and held in police custody before being formally charged in court.



Following the postmortem examination, the cause of death certificate was provided to the family members of the deceased. Additionally, photographs taken during the postmortem examination were submitted as evidence.


The police further testified that on June 8, 2024, they escorted the accused to the crime scene at Mamodu Town, showing them the specific location where the incident occurred.


On June 10, 2024, an additional caution statement obtained from the accused was formally presented as evidence. On August 14, 2024, they received legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).



Based on this advice, the police filed a single count charge of murder against the accused. The charge sheet was duly presented as evidence.


After his testimony, the witness was subjected to cross-examination by the accused.


At the conclusion of the cross-examination, Magistrate Kekura remanded the accused and adjourned the matter to October 21, 2024.
