The newly formed Parliamentary Committee on Sports in the Sixth Parliament of Sierra Leone, led by Chairman Hon. Hindolo Moiwo Gevao, has convened a meeting with key stakeholders from the sporting community, including the Ministry of Sports, National Sports Authority, National Olympic Committee, Sierra Leone Football Association, and several others.
In her opening remarks, Minister of Sports Augusta James Teima appealed to the legislative body to provide the necessary support to foster the growth and development of the sports sector, to enhance addressing challenges and other pertinent issues.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Sports, Hon. Hindolo Moiwo Gevao, emphasized the committee's open-door policy and unwavering commitment to resolving the numerous issues plaguing the sports industry, including the recent court injunction filed by Kamboi Eagles against the SLFA and the Premier League Board.
He encouraged transparency to eliminate doubts on pertinent issues within and surrounding sporting activities and communicated his interest in exhibiting professionalism in the execution of duties.
The Committee also pledged to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that Sierra Leone becomes a sporting powerhouse in the region and beyond.
