Outgoing Sports Minister Ibrahim Nyelenkeh formally transferred the position of Minister to new Minister Augusta James-Teima at a ceremony attended by stakeholders in the sector.
In his speech, Nyelenkeh thanked Allah for his guidance throughout his tenure, and said that despite the challenges, he is proud to have led the Leone Stars to the 2022 AFCON Tournament in Cameroon.
He congratulated Madam James-Teima on her appointment as the first female Minister of Sports, and expressed his confidence that she would live up to the expectations of the public, given her knowledge of the sports industry.
Nyelenkeh thanked the staff of the Ministry of Sports for their support and assured the new minister of his willingness to offer his continued advice and support to James-Teima.
James-Teima thanked Nyelenkeh for his service and affirmed that she will seriously consider the recommendations in her handover notes in terms of continuity and development within the Ministry of Sports. She acknowledged the challenges ahead, but expressed her hope for a productive term in office, with the positive support of her staff, the National Sports Authority, and Nyelenkeh.
