The All People's Congress (APC) party has released a statement condemning and denying any involvement in recent acts of violence that occurred in Freetown on November 26, 2023.
The party stated its concern on the disturbances and remarks of various government officials, primarily President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, who whilst addressing a high-powered delegation from the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), had associated the party with the August 10 protests, and their continued contestation of the June 24 elections results to these violent events.
The party condemns this statement, reiterating their belief in due process in obtaining justice relating to the conduct of the June election, establishing their commitment to the full implementation of their signed agreement and to the completion of the mandate of the Tripartite Investigation Committee.
They also brought forth information of the shooting and damaging of the APC party headquarters on the “26th November security breach" as well as the killing of one security personnel and the abduction of another at their former Chairman and Leader's residence in Freetown.
They concluded by calling for an inclusive, independent, transparent and fair investigation.
