National Cricket team to play in the West African Trophy games in preparations for ACA cup

The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) has announced that the Senior Men’s Patriots, comprising 14 players and four umpires, will depart Freetown on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, to represent Sierra Leone in the West Africa Trophy, slated for October 4 to 15, 2023, in Lagos, Nigeria.

Sierra Leone will compete against Ghana, Rwanda, and host Nigeria in a ten-day tournament featuring 20 matches at the famous, newly refurbished Tafawa Balewa Square.

Sierra Leone is scheduled to play nine matches, starting with Ghana on opening day, October 4, 2023. On Match Day 2, the Senior Men’s Patriots will face host Nigeria. Both sides have met more than ten times, both within and outside ICC arrangements.

The West Africa Trophy is organized purely to keep the senior teams of the participating countries engaged, as a new date has been set for the Africa Cricket Association Cup, which was earlier scheduled for South Africa.
