Luawa FC Partners with CD Leganés to Boost Football Development

Sierra Leonean football has received a significant boost through the partnership between LuAWA FC and Spanish club CD Leganés.


The agreement, finalized during a visit by LuAWA FC Chairman Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai to Spain, promises exciting opportunities for young Sierra Leonean players.



The collaboration will see talent exchanges and training programs implemented between the two clubs, providing a pathway for aspiring players to showcase their skills on the European stage.


“We are delighted to partner with CD Leganés. This partnership represents a significant step forward for LuAWA FC and Sierra Leonean football,” said Dr. Abdulai. “Our primary objective is to expose our players to top-level football while learning from CD Leganés' renowned player development expertise.”

During his visit, Dr. Abdulai presented a LuAWA FC jersey to CD Leganés co-owner Jeff Luhnow as a token of goodwill.



The meeting also served as a platform to discuss youth development strategies and the mutual benefits of the collaboration.


LuAWA FC Head Coach Ibrahim Sillah commended the partnership as "timely and significant" for the club’s growth. He emphasized that the partnership would not only enhance player skills but also elevate the profile of Sierra Leonean football internationally.



Vice Captain of Luawa FC Samuel Ajamie Nongorwa expressed similar enthusiasm, describing the partnership as an “amazing opportunity” for the team and a “game-changer” for their future careers.





This collaboration marks a new chapter for Sierra Leonean football, with both clubs optimistic that the partnership will foster long-term success and nurture the next generation of footballing talent.
