A 32-year-old labourer, Ibrahim Sorie Bangura, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown for his initial court hearing. He faces four felony charges: aggravated robbery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon.
The alleged offences occurred on December 17, 2024, at Sani Abacha Street in Freetown. Mr. Bangura is accused of committing aggravated robbery while armed with a cutlass and scissors. He reportedly robbed Isatu Sesay of a green cross bag containing a Tecno Camon 16 mobile phone and three thousand seven hundred Leones, with the total value of the stolen items amounting to thirteen thousand seven hundred Leones.
Additionally, he is accused of assaulting Ms. Sesay, causing her actual bodily harm, and of being in possession of offensive weapons upon his arrest.
No plea was entered during the court proceedings. Sergeant 9939 Lahai M. requested a brief adjournment to present a prosecution witness.
Magistrate Kekura denied bail and ordered Mr. Bangura's remand to the Male Correctional Center in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to January 21, 2025.
