Former flagbearer of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has been granted bail by the court of Appeal, after filing eighteen grounds of appeal immediately after his conviction in February.
Mr. Mansaray was serving a seventeen years sentence on eight count charges of sexual offenses.
His lawyer Dr. Emmanuel Saff Abdulai asked that the court grant Kamarainba bail on compassionate grounds, given his present critical medical condition, citing discretionary privileges of the court, guided by statute.
After listening to the State Counsel, Yusuf I Sesay, the judge granted bail with the condition that the convict's passport be with the court and a surety resident in Freetown.
Due to his severe medical condition, Kamarainba will continue to be hospitalized as he continues his medical treatment.
