Ivory Coast Leads Group G in 2025 AFCON Qualifiers

The current African champions, Ivory Coast, have established a commanding lead in Group G of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, following a decisive 2-0 home victory over Zambia on Friday.

This triumph places Ivory Coast at the summit of the group standings, securing three points. Sierra Leone and Chad find themselves in a shared second position, each having earned one point from their 0-0 draw in Monrovia.

Zambia, having failed to secure a victory in their opening match, currently occupies the fourth position.

Ivory Coast's victory against Zambia represents a promising start to their qualifying campaign. The reigning champions' strategic approach proved instrumental in overcoming their opponents' efforts.

The goalless draw between Sierra Leone and Chad showcased a relatively balanced encounter. Both teams had opportunities to break the deadlock, but ultimately, they were forced to share the spoils.

Zambia's defeat to Ivory Coast has placed them in a precarious position within the group. To maintain their chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the team must exhibit significant improvement in their remaining matches.

Ivory Coast has made significant progress towards qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with their victory over Zambia. However, the journey is far from complete, and the competition for the top two positions in Group G is likely to be intense.
