The international Paralympic committee development officer Carolin Rickers will be visiting the National Paralympic Committee in Sierra Leone between the 17th to 20th April 2023.
The visit is to conduct compliance training with the executive board and athletes of the National Paralympic Committee of Sierra Leone, focusing on good administrative structuring, Anti-Doping policies of the IPC and competition requirements.
She will also train the membership on funding application techniques and implementation of IPC programs.
The In-Country Support program which Carolin will be here to implement was designed by the IPC in 2022 after realizing that most African countries missed out of the Tokyo 2020 games due to lack of funding which prevented them from taking part in qualification events.
The overall goal of these trainings is to prepare Africa for the Paris 2024 Games. The IPC intends to give grants to struggling members, depending on the level of commitment of these beneficiaries.
She will proceed to Liberia for similar engagement.
With a professional background of 20 years’ in developing sports and sport organizations, it is the expressed hope that this meeting will send a strong signal to the IPC that our partners are ready to develop Para sports in the country.
