
Julius Aruna Mangoh, a former security guard, has been brought before the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on charges of malicious damage and theft. These charges are related to the alleged vandalism of air conditioners at the Government Printing Department.
The prosecution contends that on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Government Printing Department in New England Ville, Mangoh maliciously damaged four air conditioners. Each unit is valued at 30,000 new Leones, resulting in a total loss of 120,000 new Leones. Furthermore, he is accused of stealing the aforementioned air conditioners belonging to the department.
During the legal proceedings, the prosecution's primary witness, Salifu Lahai Summa, a staff member at the Government Printing Department, provided testimony before Magistrate Sahr Kekura on February 28, 2025. Summa, who resides at No. 8 Old Aberdeen, Lumley, identified Mangoh as a former security officer for the department.
Summa recounted receiving a call from Amara Bangura while driving along Wilkinson Road between 10 and 11 AM on the day of the incident, informing him that a thief had been apprehended at the office.
Upon arriving later that day, he proceeded to the police station to provide a statement and subsequently inspected the office, confirming the theft of the four air conditioners.
Following Summa's testimony, the case was adjourned to the 5th of March 2025 for further hearing. The accused remains in custody.
