Footballer, Students, and Driver Sentenced to 6 Months for Unlawful Possession of Kush

On September 10, 2024, at the Waterloo Magistrate Court in the Western Rural District, Magistrate Peter Gogra sentenced four individuals to six months of incarceration for the unlawful possession of cannabis and Kush. The convicted individuals are Muhammad Jalloh, a 24-year-old student; Adikalie Kamara, a 19-year-old student; Misheik Koroma, a 24-year-old footballer; and Alex Sattia, an employed motor driver.



The aforementioned individuals were found guilty of possessing Kush and frequenting a location known for its use in smoking the substance. According to police reports, on August 30, 2024, at Waterloo Junction within the Western Rural District, the accused were apprehended with Kush in their possession and were observed in a designated smoking area for cannabis.


The accused faced charges for unlawful possession of Kush and frequenting an establishment used for smoking the illicit drug. Upon the presentation of these charges, the defendants admitted their guilt without contesting the allegations.



Police Prosecutor Inspector Edna Kpulun informed the court that the individuals had no prior criminal records. Following their admission of guilt, the defendants humbly requested leniency from the court.


Acknowledging their pleas for mercy, Magistrate Gogra imposed a sentence of six months in the Male Correctional Facility located in Freetown. Alternatively, each individual was given the option to pay a fine of one thousand Leones to avoid imprisonment.
