Coach Lamin Bangura will be fondly remembered as a revered figure in Sierra Leone and beyond.
Sierra Leone's Historic Debut in the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) in 1994
On March 27th, 1994, the Sierra Leone national football team made their historic debut in the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) against Ivory Coast.
The match, held in Tunisia, unfortunately resulted in a 4-0 defeat for the Leone Stars.
Despite the outcome, the occasion holds great significance in the annals of Sierra Leonean football history.
Coach Lamin Bangura was among the distinguished players representing Sierra Leone at the time.
Sierra Leone has since participated in three additional Afcon tournaments (1994, 1996, and 2021).
