Raymond Kamara, 25, a student at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone has been relegated to prison following an allegation of wounding with intent to commit murder.

On Sunday 19th of May 2024 at #1 Conteh Drive No.2 River Village in Freetown wounded Ishmail Conteh with intent to murder. Kamara is also accused of maliciously assaulting Ishmael Conteh.

Kamara is before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown, facing three counts of wounding with intent to murder and assault.

Kamara did not take a plea after the charges were read and explained to him in court because he is on a preliminary investigation, not a summary trial.

Led in evidence by Sergeant Florence Wilson, the second prosecution witness, Ishmail Conteh a Student, narrated that on the day of the incident, he was in his bedroom when he heard the accused threatening to stab someone in the compound.

The witness, Conteh said he came out of his bedroom and instructed the kids to leave the compound due to the threat made by the accused.

‘I saw the accused holding a knife, a barbecue fork, and a pair of scissors and seemed determined to cause havoc,’ the witness further narrated.

The prosecution witness revealed that a lady named Adama White instructed the accused to kill him the same way they killed his cousin. ‘Shortly afterward, the accused threw a stone at me, chased and stabbed me on my stomach,’ he narrated in grief.

According to Conteh, the accused person, Kamara, attempted to stab him for the second time, saying that nothing was going to come out of it until he was rescued by a neighbor, Mohamed.

Conteh said that he was rushed to the Emergency Hospital where he was placed on oxygen and was later referred to the Connaught Hospital before he finally went through surgery at the Lumley International Hospital.

A medical endorsed form and some pictures showing the depth of his condition at the time of the stabbing were tendered in evidence.

After Conteh’s testimony, Counsel representing the accused person H. Kamara Esq. cross-examined the witness.  He also renewed his previous bail applications on behalf of the accused person.

However, Magistrate Bangura discountenanced the bail plea, noting the seriousness of the matter. He remanded the accused and hdjourned the matter to the 3rd of July 2024.
