Lamin Bangura, a 25-year-old cleaner, is facing serious allegations of stealing polished national gold and cash in United States dollars.
The accused, Mr. Bangura, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at the Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown, facing one count of larceny.
However, the accused did not enter a plea because he was arraigned on a preliminary investigation to determine if there is sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to the High Court.
According to police reports, the accused, Mr. Bangura, on Friday, October 18th, 2024, at #32 Benjamin Lane in Freetown, entered the dwelling house of Pawel Andizel Kusmierzak and stole therein the sum of fifteen thousand United States dollars and two and a half kilograms of gold, with a total estimated value of 4,848 Sierra Leonean Leones, property of Mr. Kusmierzak.
The prosecutor, Detective Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K.K, requested an adjournment because his witness was absent.
The accused was not represented by legal counsel in court.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura sent Bangura into remand, noting the seriousness of the offence committed and he adjourned the matter to the 12th December 2024 for further hearing.
