The Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 has granted SLE200,000 bail to three individuals accused of stealing $7,000 from the residence of the prominent footballer, Kei Kamara.

A caretaker, Abubakarr Turay, and his family members, Fatmata Bangura and their daughter Kadiatu Turay, were each granted bail of SLE200,000 with two sureties. They are accused of conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny under the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the charge sheet, the alleged theft occurred on January 15, 2025, at Kamara's residence on Fadika Drive, Hill Station, Freetown. Prosecutors claim the trio conspired to steal $7,000 (equivalent to Le170,100) from the footballer.

During the arraignment, Abubakarr Turay pleaded not guilty, while Fatmata Bangura and Kadiatu Turay admitted to the offense. Fatmata and Kadiatu also allegedly produced a $600 note wrapped in a black plastic bag, claiming it was given to her by her husband, Abubakarr Turay.

Prosecution witness Musa Koroma testified that he visited the police station and questioned Fatmata Bangura about the missing money. When questioned about the $600 she was holding, she claimed it was given to her by her husband. However, Koroma returned the pair to the police station and informed Abubakarr Turay about their arrest. He denied any involvement.

Magistrate Sahr Kekura granted the accused SLE 200,000 bail with two sureties and adjourned the case to March 5, 2025, for further hearings.
