In the ongoing murder trial of Amara Kargbo, accused of the murder of Moray Kargbo, the defendant submitted a formal request during a court session on Monday, January 13, 2025. During cross-examination of exhibit clerk Sergeant Buyah, following the presentation of the alleged murder weapon, a knife, Kargbo requested the remains of the deceased.
Kargbo made his fourth appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown. He faces a single charge of murder, in contravention of section 1(a) of the schedule to the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021, Act No. 6 of 2022.
Court records indicate that the alleged murder of Moray Kargbo occurred on September 26, 2024, at #14 Sesay Lane, Moeba, Freetown. Kargbo did not enter a plea upon the reading and explanation of the charge.
Inspector Daboh A. presented witness testimony from Sergeant Buyah, an officer stationed at Ross Road Police Station, who submitted the purported murder weapon.
Kargbo, representing himself, challenged the testimony in an attempt to demonstrate his innocence.
Despite Kargbo's arguments and formal request, Magistrate Kekura denied bail and remanded him to the Male Correctional Center in Freetown.
The proceedings have been adjourned until January 20, 2025.
